Dr. Gerber is a physiatrist – a physician who specializes
in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). Physiatrists
see patients of all age groups and treat a wide range of
problems, including acute and chronic pain, arthritis,
tendonitis, back pain, and work and sports related injuries. Physiatrists
also treat patients with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries,
strokes, amputations, cancer and neurologic diseases. Physiatrists
treat people, not just symptoms. By evaluating the
impact of a condition on the whole person – medically,
socially, emotionally and vocationally – physiatrists
help their patients understand and take control of their
health.
Dr. Gerber specializes in the diagnosis and treatment
of spine disorders, work and sports related injuries and
the management of acute and chronic pain. He offers
patients an individualized and aggressive, nonsurgical
treatment approach, which may consist of physical or occupational
therapy, aquatic and therapeutic exercises, medications,
local injections and/or fluoroscopically guided spinal
injections. If surgery is necessary, he works closely with
the areas best surgeons and will be able to coordinate
both pre and post-operative pain management. Most importantly,
Dr. Gerber is concerned with improving function and the
quality of his patients lives.
